Accounting Assistant (AA)
Qualifications
- A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial statements
- Familiarity with accounting software (Xero preferred) or willingness to learn
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Interest in Australian taxation and business accounting practices
- Ability to manage workflow and deadlines efficiently
Responsibilities
The following are the duties to be carried out as directed by the Employer, and shall include but shall not be limited to:
- Process financial transactions, including recording expenses, income, and other data in the accounting system
- Manage accounts payable, including vendor invoices and payment processing
- Handle accounts receivable by issuing invoices, tracking payments, and following up on overdue accounts
- Perform bank reconciliations to ensure alignment between bank statements and internal records
- Assist in preparing financial reports, such as profit & loss statements and balance sheets
- Support tax and compliance tasks, including GST/BAS preparation and ensuring ATO record alignment
- Maintain and organise financial documents, both digital and physical
- Assist in preparing tax returns, financial statements, and Business Activity Statements (BAS) for business clients
- Work with personal tax clients and prepare necessary deliverables
- Utilise accounting platforms such as Xero and BGL
- Collaborate with a wider team across multiple offices to ensure seamless client service
- Manage deadlines and provide support to the CFO and Group Accountant on accounting, tax compliance, and other ad hoc tasks
